Phnom Penh, 23 November 2024 – Samdech Rathsaphea Thipadei Khuon Sudary, President of the National Assembly of Cambodia, held bilateral talks Saturday with the Honourable Dev Raj Ghimire, Speaker of Nepal’s House of Representatives.
The talks came ahead of the 11th Plenary Session of the International Parliament for Tolerance and Peace (IPTP) opening Sunday.
Samdech Khuon Sudary, who is chairing the session, expressed deep gratitude to the Speaker for leading Nepal’s delegation to meetings of the IPTP and the International Conference of Asian Political Parties (ICAPP) in Phnom Penh.
She expressed heartfelt appreciation for Nepal's consistent presence at important legislative and executive events organized by Cambodia. Nepal’s participation demonstrates its commitment to peace and contributes to strengthening and expanding relations, friendship, and cooperation between the two countries for mutual benefit, she said.
The Nepalese Speaker highly appreciated the friendship and cooperation between Cambodia and Nepal. He highlighted the similar cultural and tourism potential of both countries, noting that many Cambodians visit Nepal, the birthplace of Buddha.
He also praised the rapid development of Cambodia under the leadership of Samdech Techo Hun Sen, President of the Senate, and Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet, the Prime Minister. He wished the Cambodian Parliament success in organizing the IPTP Plenary Session for the common benefit of the world.
Samdech Khuon Sudary said Nepal’s participation in the IPTP and ICAPP meetings exemplified mutual support in regional and international fora, bringing significant honour to Cambodia on the global stage.
The two speakers reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening parliamentary relations under both bilateral and multilateral frameworks. They stressed the importance of closer people-to-people ties to advance cooperation in areas such as trade and tourism for the shared growth and development of their nations.
